How many New Year’s resolutions have you accomplished from last year? Can you even remember what your goals were? Well, you are certainly not alone. New Year’s resolutions have become much less popular in recent years because people think they promote an all-or-nothing mindset that leads to inevitable failure and disappointment. But it DOES NOT have to be that way.

Remember, New Year’s resolutions are about self-improvement and setting intentions for a “fresh” new start, not about overthrowing everything about your life. By god, is you even accomplish half of one of your big goals, that is still progress that would not have happened if you never tried!

We don’t do all-or-nothing self-loathing on this site, so if you want inspiration for your 2026 new year’s resolutions and tips for fostering a mindset to achieve them, keep reading!

New Year’s Resolution Ideas for 2026

1) Go on a hike at least once every month.

Little goals can contribute to big changes! Going on a hike every month is a good way to establish healthy consistency. For those of you who live in cold places, if I can achieve this living in Montana, so can you. It is also up to you to determine the difficulty and location if your area is better suited for walking trails.

2) Try a new high-fiber recipe every other week.

Hot girls eat fiber! Most Americans do not get enough fiber in their diets, and that can contribute to a host of issues. Getting more fiber in your diet can be as simple as drinking a glass of chia seeds or having a cup of frozen blueberries at breakfast.

3) Spend 5 minutes stretching every night before bed.

4) Do posture exercises every morning.

Being slumped over a computer or phone all day does a number on your neck and back. Spending a few minutes each day strengthening your shoulders will help you stand taller and reduce neck pain. It is another New Year’s resolution that builds routine.

5) Say a manifestation or something you are grateful for before picking up your phone in the morning.

Since I started doing this, I have actually noticed a difference in my appearance. You glow differently when you start the morning with positivity before anything else.

6) Oil pulling before brushing your teeth.

Oil pulling is all-natural and does wonders for your oral health! I actually have a whole post dedicated to the science and results behind it. Check it out here!

7) Make weekly morning health shots.

Smoothie and juice shots are a great way to get a boost of vitamins in your diet. Add prepping them at the beginning of the week to improve your health and save some cash.

9) Read at least one book a month.

Expanding your mind is just as important as taking care of your physical health. If you are not a fan of reading, you likely have the wrong impression of what you need to be reading. Try a booktok rec, and I bet your impression will be changed.

10) Pick a day every week and dedicate it to a space reset.

Ever heard of a Sunday reset? Making these a weekly occurrence is a game-changer for your week.

11) Start learning a new language.

If you are interested in actually becoming fluent in a new language, Duolingo is not the way to go. However, if you want to learn a few phrases here and there, it works great.

12) Visit a new restaurant in your city every month.

I have loved becoming a tourist in my city. It is so easy for your home to feel small when you don’t experience new elements of it, and trying new restaurants is the perfect way to do that.

13) Plan a trip or mini-staycation somewhere you have always wanted to visit.

You have to name it to claim it! Writing this one down and setting your intentions for it is crucial, especially if you intend to make it abroad. However, renting an Airbnb in your state for a weekend can achieve the same new experience and inspiration you may find yourself needing.

14) Start dedicating more time to your appearance.

If we are being honest, most New Year’s resolutions consist of wanting to enhance one’s appearance, which is fair. This doesn’t have to mean a crash diet and an 8-step skincare routine. This can mean investing in a few high-quality products and implementing a few of the small habits mentioned above.

15) Evaluate your wardrobe.

Do you feel like your clothing still resonates with who you are becoming? How you look and how you feel go hand in hand. If you want to truly evolve this year, allow yourself to fully embrace what that change can look like on you.

16) Donate clothing you no longer wear.

Unless it is not suitable for another person to wear, please consider donating your clothes! It is far better for the environment and reduces waste.

17) Drink more water!

This one is sooo easy, and everyone tells you to do it. IT WORKS! Just drink more water god damnit.

18) Switch to non-toxic products.

I don’t subscribe to many health fads, but non-toxic products, I wholeheartedly believe in. There are so many more options out there now for everything from detergent to deodorant.

19) Start building more time into your days for your hobbies.

Make what you love a priority! Wake up early, block out time during your lunch break, take 30 minutes in the evening, whatever works best for you. Hobbies are a huge part of who you are as a real person. Treat them like they matter.

20) Launch a side hustle.

Who doesn’t need more money right now? The best part about a side hustle is that it is a job you can enjoy.

21) Reorganize your pantry and fridge.

Man oh man, if you want to feel like you have a brand new life in just a few hours, organize your fridge and pantry.

22) Start shopping at local grocery stores and clothing stores.

Feeling connected to your community plays a huge role in overall health and satisfaction. Shopping local for items you would be purchasing anyway helps fill your bucket and the bucket of your community.

23) Conquer a fear.

Once you become an adult, this becomes so underrated. It could be anything, no matter how big or small. Progress is progress.

24) Start journaling.

Having a space to get your thoughts and feelings out in the open while simultaneously working through how you feel is so important. It also does not have to be a regular occurrence if you don’t want it to be. You can journal every day or only when you have something you need to get out. It only takes a notebook and a few prompts to change your perspective.

25) Work on something you are bad at.

Avoidance is not sexy. If there is a skill that you really think you should know or be better at, learn it.

26) Build discipline.

Discipline doesn’t just happen overnight. You need it as a skill. Exercising discipline in small ways can help you keep the big promises to yourself.

27) Reach out to your friends and family more.

We are all guilty of deprioritizing relationships when life gets busy or we get tired. But it is hard to find an example of a time when reaching out to a friend or family member was not the right choice. Just do it!

28) Spend at least 10 minutes outside each day.

This could look like drinking your coffee on the porch, going for a walk at lunch time, sitting on a park bench, whatever your case may be. Being present outside helps us gain perspective. This is another example of, has anyone ever felt worse after taking outside time?

29) Invest in taking care of a plant.

Take care of something that grows! Plants are another way to foster discipline and responsibility. They are a great reminder that what you put in is what you get out. They also purify the air in your space and look super cute.

30) Go for lunch break walks.

So underrated. If your excuse for not getting more steps is, “I don’t have time”. Find a new excuse because you always have time for what you make a priority.

Tips for Achieving Your New Year’s Resolutions

Spend an evening evaluating your life. What you like about it and what no longer feels like it fits you. Use these journaling prompts to guide your thinking!

Romanticize the process of achieving your goals. Remember, failure does not exist when improvement is the goal; the only true failure is giving up.

Unless you have a goal that requires a strict timeline, stop thinking about how long it will take. You have 365 days, 12 months, a WHOLE YEAR, truly, to achieve these things. It is okay to play the long game.

Try out focusing on certain things during certain quarters. Changing your life all at once will lead to overwhelm and burnout. Focusing on a few things for a three-month period can improve overall results.
